He is starting to confuse me..(cont)?

I have been talking to a guy for around a month or so over Facebook, I have had him as a friend for over a year - maybe two but we never spoke except once ages ago over the phone which is why we were friends on Facebook anyway- we talk regularly and he recently told me that 'im pretty and have an amazing personality' then he went on to say 'the only thing that bothers me is the year gap' (as he is a year older than me) but I didnt really know what to think of this because it isn't a huge age gap. We continued to talk, sometimes flirting and even over the phone. Today he told me that I was beautiful and I shouldn't let anyone tell me any different; he likes most of the pictures I post of myself and sometimes my status'- I know he's not a player because he had an argument with another guy for hurting another girls feelings. No, our relationship isn't just over facebook because I have seen him before as well. I just don't know what to think because although he says we can't be in a relationship because of the age gap, he acts like he does want a relationship, so I'm confused with what he does want. Maybe he wants to be just friends but I don't know. All I know is I want to be more than friends because he's an amazing person. Please help and don't judge - I will be extremely thankful :)
