What happened to my router speed?

My Internet connection used to be extremely fast. Now, everything is drastically slower. When directly connected, my home computer runs at a fast pace. All of my wireless utilities, however, are extravagantly slower. Occasionally I can't even get the wireless items to work. What happened?
