Why do people have such a negative view of those that they consider to be "Fundies"?

Because they force their agenda on everyone else, whether they agree or not, and can be very hateful. They keep progress back. They can also cause serious psychological trauma to people put in fundie "Oh noez u caught teh gayz" camps.
